I am currently doing a European / International Law bachelor at the Université Catholique de Lille.
Even if I was not as good as I would have liked in literature, OIB classes taught me so much. I certainly had ups and downs and I sometimes thought about leaving the section, but I didn’t give up, knowing that even if it wasn’t always obvious to me, I was progressing in leaps and bounds. That’s the secret to the OIB : determination and willpower! This year, I can really see the gap between me and the other students in English, as well as in other subjects, whether it was simply the English, organisation, expression both written and oral, and so on.
I must say that without the OIB, this year would have been a lot more difficult !

I’m currently doing a double degree History and English at the Sorbonne in Paris.
This course requires a huge amount of work (especially in History where we have a lot of
content in each class) but the OIB was very good preparation. Indeed, I already had quite a heavy workload when I was in the OIB. Therefore, the transition from high school to university was less difficult and smoother regarding that aspect.
The OIB also helped me organise and manage my workload better, which is essential to keep up with the classes on this course.

I hesitated for a long time about joining the British International Section as I was convinced that I was a scientific person who did not need literature for his future career. Plus, I was not really looking forward to studying Shakespeare and poems, in all honesty. However, the section teachers shared their love for this amazing subject and lead me to learn to appreciate it. Furthermore, thinking back on my three years of more generally, the extra work load this section requires, the studious atmosphere and the devoted teachers made my transition to University smoother. The British International Section makes you a knowledgeable, critical and cultivated person.”
