Our traditional London study trip for the first years took place in March.

DAY 1 : The British Museum with tasks and challenges set by Mr Balcer and a critical case study of the Parthenon Marbles to get us off to a good start.

DAY 2: The National Archives organised two workshops: the first based on Elizabeth I and the second on Victorian Whitechapel. Students had the opportunity to take a very hands-on approach to some unique historical documents.

A trip to the Tate Modern completed the day with, notably, an exhibition on Australian art.

DAY 3: A rainy morning but our spirits were not dampened as student ambassadors showed us around UCL (University College London) before heading off to the West End to watch an adaptation of Harper Lee’s ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ at the Gielguld Theatre.

DAY 4: Another historical trip in the morning to the Imperial War Museum – tracing the UK’s place in WWI and WWII as well as much more modern conflicts.

Back to the theatre in the afternoon to watch Agatha Christie’s ‘Witness for the Prosecution‘ at London County Hall, an immersive experience but shhh you have to keep the secret!

DAY 5: Our last day in London, that turned out to be much more eventful than expected … First a guided tour and theatre workshop at Shakespeare’s Globe theatre followed by a final visit to the Science Museum.

Friday took an epic turn of events when storms and strikes transformed the usual return journey into a marathon trip with a five-hour delay and confinement to our coach … but we all survived !!
